Care shaped around the individual

Support for real life—not a one-size-fits-all service

Good care should fit around the person: their routines, relationships, abilities, culture, goals and the things that make home feel like home.

We listen first, agree what good support looks like together and build care around dignity, choice and independence. As needs change, the plan changes with them.

The family story behind TogetherCare

This history is not simply part of our past. It still shapes how we listen, lead and care today.

Mike Jnr’s story

From caring for Nana Peggy to caring for our community

Our story began with my “Nana Peggy”. After she was diagnosed with dementia in 2008, my dad became her full-time carer and moved back home to support both Nana and my grandad. When Nana sadly passed away in July 2012, our family experience gave TogetherCare its lasting purpose.

My dad and I opened our first office at St Helens Chamber in March 2012. We chose Unit 30 because Nana and Grandad had lived at number 30, Marsden Avenue. We have remained based at the Chamber ever since.

Our first service user was my grandad, supported through direct payments. From that deeply personal beginning, TogetherCare has grown to support thousands of local people and families—without losing the personal touch, honesty and quality on which it was founded.

St Helens is our home and the community we have always wanted to serve. Today, as my dad Mick lives with dementia himself, the lessons our family has learned continue to guide me and the experienced senior team working alongside me.
